JPCC and the JPCC Political Action Committee (PAC) started in 1992 for several reasons:
At the time the U.S. Supreme Court had issued a series of decisions that, in effect, gave state legislatures increased responsibilities over abortion issues.
Coalition organizers felt there was a need to ensure that Juneau's elected representatives, at all levels, hold pro-choice views.
We formed a non-profit organization, a 501(c)(4) and a PAC, which has focused on voter identification and education on abortion rights issues.
In addition to informing pro-choice voters in Juneau about candidates for public office, JPCC serves as a watchdog on the legislature, assembly and school board and mobilizes people to contact to act when reproductive health issues are at stake.
Our Mission: To promote public awareness through education and advocacy of the importance of preserving a woman's right to self-determination of her reproductive life. All women should have access to safe and legal reproductive health services.
